1. Focus on What You Love

At Sixth Form you might study a handful of A levels, but most of our Level 3/Advanced qualifications are equivalent to three A levels, so you focus all of your energy and attention into one subject, learning it inside and out.

2. Support System

We have dedicated support teams at both campuses, from Learning Support to Mental Health and Wellbeing. Whether you’re having an issue with your studies, or there are some problems at home, there is someone you can speak to in confidence who will listen to your opinion, and help you resolve it.

3. Work Experience

Most of our courses require you to complete over 100 hours of work experience at an actual company, outside of the college walls. We work with loads of local employers who are looking for people like you to share their knowledge with. You will experience life on the job before you go on to do it for real.

4. More independence

When you’re a Milton Keynes College student, we don’t spoon feed you information from a textbook, we expect you to use your initiative and take your learning further – whether that’s through completing your assignments at home with research projects or taking on your work experience opportunities to help you in your career.

5. Meet New People

You’re going to be in class groups with people who share your interests – after all, you’ve chosen to study the same subject, you’re bound to have some things in common! From your peers, to work experience, to industry contacts through your tutors, you’re going to make a lot of new friends.

6. Learn From The Experts

Our tutors have years of experience in their field – from the Armed Forces to West End performers, you’re going to be learning from people who have been there, done that and now teach it.

7. Work on Live Projects

As well as taking on work experience, you will be working on live projects set by employers. Whether it’s designing a logo for Milton Keynes University Hospital or refurbishing a community centre for a local charity, your CV is going to be full to the brim in no time.

8. You're Treated Like an Adult

There’s no school uniform, no ‘miss’ or ‘sir’, and you’re not expected to be in college all day every day. We’re preparing you for your career, which means we treat you like the young adult you are, and we expect you to behave like one.

9. Our Facilities Reflect Industry

We've invested in creating outstanding facilities to ensure your time here is the best it can be. Whether you're creating new styles for clients in our Graduate Salon or putting your mechanical skills to the test in our Motor Vehicle workshop, you'll have access to facilities and technologies that mirror your chosen industry.

10. Progression is Priority

The whole point of you getting an education is so you can progress to the next stage and grow as an individual. You will have a personal Progress Mentor who you will have regular catchups with, to make sure you are on the right path to reach your goals.
